NEW YORK: NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment’s preschool channel Sprout is slated to begin airing the first season of Little People, a new animated series from Mattel’s HIT Entertainment, early next month.

Based on the original Fisher-Price brand, Little People uses music and comedy to teach youngsters about the power of collaborative play. The 52×11-minute show, which is meant for children between the ages of 2 and 5, will begin airing on Sprout on March 7 at 7 a.m. It will become available on Sprout’s TV Anywhere service that same day, and across the network’s VOD and digital platforms on March 20.

The first season of Little People has already been picked up by a number of other broadcasters around the globe, including Cartoonito in the U.K., RTL in the Netherlands, Discovery Kids in Latin America, E-TV in South Africa, TV Cultura in Brazil and Televisa in Mexico.

Christopher Keenan, the VP of global content and executive producer at HIT Entertainment, said: “We are thrilled that Sprout’s viewers and parents will be joining Little People on their big adventures! Sprout is the ideal preschool broadcast platform for this musical, comedy series about imagining a better world.”

“Sprout is delighted to team up with Mattel and HIT Entertainment on the all new Little People series,” added Lisa O’Brien, the VP of programming at Sprout. “We’re excited to share the Little People friends’ world of wonder and sense of discovery with our viewers.”
