LONDON: Sky is bolstering its offerings for children with the addition of new exclusive programming as well as new features for the dedicated Sky Kids app.

The new content includes specially created kids’ versions of Sky 1’s popular science panel show Duck Quacks Don’t Echo and wildlife docuseries Big Cats, An Amazing Animal Family. Duck Quacks Don’t Echo: Kids, produced by Magnum Media, is presented by Lee Mack. Offspring Films’s Big Cats, An Amazing Animal Family is hosted by Patrick Aryee. Sky is also planning exclusive children’s programming from Sky Sports and short-form content from leading MCNs, including nursery rhymes and music.

The Sky Kids app is being enhanced with the recently added sleep mode setting, which allows parents to control what their children watch and for how long. As of July 24, youngsters will be able to download their favorite series to watch over and over again with the new offline viewing function. The app, which launched in March, is now also available to Sky customers in Germany and Austria and will begin rolling out in Italy early next year.

Lucy Murphy, the head of kids’ content at Sky, commented: “Sky has always focused on providing great entertainment for the whole family, which is why we are continuing to invest in what we offer the youngest members of the household. We’re really excited to be bringing even more original programming to Sky Kids as well as further improving the app. The talented teams at Magnum Media and Offspring Films are creating kids’ versions of two of Sky 1’s most popular shows, Duck Quacks Don’t Echo and Big Cats, An Amazing Animal Family. As well as all this great new content, the app will get even better with our new download function while the sleep mode setting will give parents even greater control over their kids’ viewing.”
