Sky Kids’ Lucy Murphy & Gutsy Animations’ Marika Makaroff

Lucy Murphy, head of kids’ content at Sky, and Marika Makaroff, CEO and creative director at Gutsy Animations who is an executive producer on Moominvalley, talk to TV Kids about giving new life to the beloved IP.

The magical world of the Moomins has been brought to life for a new generation of viewers with Moominvalley. Based on the classic stories from the Finnish-Swedish artist and writer Tove Jansson, Moominvalley was created by Gutsy Animations with two seasons of 13 22-minute episodes. The show so far is in Finland, the U.K., Japan, China and South Korea. It is currently available on-demand on Sky Kids in the U.K. and Yle Areena in Finland. Moominvalley is now officially the most-watched TV show ever on the Yle Areena on-demand service. It is targeted for a family prime-time audience, looking to connect with lifelong Moomin fans and newcomers alike. The U.K. voice cast features a bevy of well-known names, including Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) as Moominmamma and Kate Winslet (Titanic) as Mrs Fillyjonk.
