Sky Kids is due to debut FYI, an original weekly news show presented by children and produced by Fresh Start Media, later this month.

FYI will answer questions youngsters have about news, current affairs and politics. It will also explore the worlds of entertainment, sports and more. Segments include Junior Prime Minister’s Questions, Top Stories, Kids Comment, I Don’t Get It, Our World and LOL/OMG videos. The 15-minute series, meant for viewers aged 7 to 12, will premiere on Sky Kids in the U.K. on November 10.

Episodes of FYI will also be available in schools on the First News website.

Lucy Murphy, the head of Sky Kids, commented: “I hope FYI doesn’t just answer kids’ questions, but that it gets them asking more. Kids make up 20 percent of the population but they are 100 percent of the future, so it’s vital we invest in them and give them a voice. I’m so proud Sky Kids and Sky News are doing just that with this new show—I don’t think there is anything else quite like this on U.K. television.”

Nicky Cox, the head of First News/Fresh Start Media, added: “As editor of First News, I am delighted to be working with Sky Kids and Sky News on this truly original news show for kids. I always say that for the world to become a better place, the next generation needs to be better informed than the last. This show will help to ensure that happens.”
