Book-Based Series Claude Lands on Disney Junior EMEA

BELFAST: Claude, a new 2D animated preschool show produced by Sixteen South, has been picked up by Disney Junior for broadcast in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

Claude follows the titular beret-wearing dog who goes on adventures with his best friend, Sir Bobblysock, after his owners leave for work. The 52×11-minute series is based on the books by Alex T. Smith and published by the Hachette Children’s Group. It recently started production and is slated to begin airing next year. American Greetings Properties has signed on to handle the global media distribution of Claude.

Colin Williams, Sixteen South’s creative director, commented: “We fell in love with Claude when we first saw the books and we’re thrilled that Disney has fallen in love with him, too. We’re delighted that our little four-legged hero will be popping up on Disney Junior all across the world and we know that his fun stories and silly humor will appeal to children everywhere!”

Smith noted: “I’m thrilled to be working and writing with Sixteen South on this very special project, and can’t wait for everyone across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Australia to join Claude and Sir Bobblysock as their adventures move to the small screen.”

Karen Lawler, the executive manager of licensing at the Hachette Children’s Group, added: “We’ve had a fantastic experience working with Sixteen South who really understand Claude’s humor and charm. We’re absolutely delighted the series will be seen on Disney EMEA: having such high-caliber partners on board is a huge component of the Hachette Children’s Group’s vision for the future.”
