Sesame Street puppeteer Spencer Lott and creative partner and artist Grace Townley have aligned to launch Simple Mischief Studio.

The venture is billed as a creative studio “with a soft spot for puppets,” with plans to develop and produce multiplatform IP that celebrates uncommon heroes. The slate includes TV, film, picture books, games and live entertainment.

“We love telling offbeat stories that speak not only to the child but also the caregiver in the room,” said Townley.

“People are open to new ideas when they laugh,” said Lott. “We’re currently developing preschool concepts as well as projects for 8- to 12-year-olds.”

“Collaborating with bold clients is a blast,” added Townley, “and we love bringing their unique puppet projects to life.”
