Serious Kids has signed a worldwide content and format rights deal with Lion TV for its new fashion show Style It Out.

The original series premiered on CBBC earlier this month, with Emma Willis as host and stylists Ayishat Akanbi and Jorge Antonio as judges. Nine aspiring kid designers are competing to come up with a perfect outfit for a specific theme using only secondhand and recycled materials.

Each episode of the series stars one high-profile young influencer, singer, dancer, chef or model. The ultimate winner of the competition will have their designs displayed on a catwalk at London Fashion Week.

“Fashion has always been a tricky subject for kids because of the predominance of brands and shopping, but this series has sustainability at its heart and the creativity coming from these young kids literally makes me cry,” said Genevieve Dexter, CEO of Serious Kids.

Richard Bradley, CCO and co-founder of Lion TV, said, “As far as we know, this is the first fashion design show for kids. We were inundated with applications to compete on the series and think the audience will be blown away by the creativity on display.”

“There has never been a time when young people have been so vocal about expressing their own style and individuality,” added Melissa Hardinge, commissioning editor at BBC Children’s.
