Saint Seiya Set for Televisa

Toei Animation’s animated series Saint Seiya has been slated to launch on Televisa in Mexico early next month.

The 114 classic episodes of Saint Seiya will air on Televisa Monday through Thursday beginning July 3 at 7:30 p.m. under the local title Los Caballeros del Zodiaco. Launched worldwide in 1986, Saint Seiya tells the story of five mystical warriors who band together in times of crisis to defend the goddess Athena against Olympian gods who want to rule the Earth. Licensing and merchandising partners are being sought for the brand.

“Mexico is an integral country reflecting the global success of anime,” said Daniel Castaneda, the director for Latin American licensing at Toei Animation. “Saint Seiya has become a pop-culture staple, and we’re delighted to continue our close association with audiences across the country by joining with Televisa.”
