Red Rock Films and the National Wildlife Federation are developing a kids’ series based on the Ranger Rick magazine and book character.

The character was first featured in the 1959 book The Adventures of Rick Raccoon, written by J.A. “Ash” Brownridge, a National Wildlife Federation executive. Ranger Rick has since been featured in six magazines, reaching approximately 2 million people. Ranger Rick’s Nature Magazine is now in its 54th year.

Bix Pix Entertainment (Amazon’s Tumble Leaf) is also working on the animated series. Brenda Wooding, a children’s entertainment veteran, is the executive in charge of development and production for Red Rock. Shannon Malone-deBenedictis of Red Rock is executive producer of the series, along with Kelli Bixler, owner, founder and executive producer of Bix Pix.
