Production has begun on the RAI animated TV special The Star of Andra and Tati (La Stella di Andra e Tati), which is based on the true story of two sisters who survived Auschwitz.

Produced by Rai Ragazzi and Larcadarte, The Star of Andra and Tati will be broadcast on Rai Gulp next September. It tells the story of sisters Alessandra and Tatiana Bucci, who entered Auschwitz in April 1944 and were released in January 1945.

The 26-minute film is directed by Rosalba Vitellaro and Alessandro Belli, with drawings by Annalisa Corsi. The film, which is the first cartoon made in Europe on the theme of the Shoah, will also be used as educational material in schools thanks to an agreement between RAI and the Italian Ministry of Education.
