Premiere Date Set for Disney’s Newest Lion King Movie

BURBANK: Disney’s latest Lion King movie, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar, is set to debut on Disney Channel in the U.S. and Canada on November 22.

After the premiere, the movie will be available on the WATCH Disney Channel app, WATCH Disney Junior app, Disney Channel on Demand and Disney Junior on Demand on November 23. The Lion Guard TV series is set to make its debut in early 2016. Both the movie and the series will roll out globally through 2017 on Disney Channels and Disney Junior channels. The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar follows Kion, the second-born cub of Simba and Nala. The cub is destined to become the leader of the Lion Guard, a team of animals comprised of the Pride Lands' fiercest, bravest, fastest, strongest and keenest of sight.

An extended trailer for the movie will become available on TheLionGuard.com on October 16. James Earl Jones and Ernie Sabella are reprising their original roles as Mufasa and Pumbaa, respectively, while Rob Lowe will voice Simba and Gabrielle Union is voicing Nala. Both the movie and the series were developed by Ford Riley (Special Agent Oso), who also serves as executive producer.
