Pink Parrot Media has acquired the global distribution rights to the 3D-animated feature film Trash, from Italy’s Al One.

Trash centers on the importance of recycling and giving a second life to litter in a meaningful way. In a world where trash comes to life at night, the feature follows the adventures of a bunch of waste on a quest to pursue a mythical recycling bin. Trash is directed by Luca Della Grotta and Francesco Dafano. Pink Parrot will begin selling the movie at this year’s European Film Market.

Luca Della Grotta, in an interview with Globo D’Oro, said: “Trash is not a feature film just for children. But at the end of the day, the future is in their hands. We wanted to send a message aimed at tomorrow’s generation, which is also showing a lot more interest in this matter.”

Tania Pinto Da Cunha, VP and head of international sales at Pink Parrot Media, said: “In addition to the beautiful animation and great values, we immediately saw so many things that we liked about this film. It’s an ecological fable! The fact that it speaks directly to kids and addresses a valuable topic that they can easily relate to—the importance of recycling and taking care of our planet. The story is done in a fun and entertaining way that allows them to relate while providing an inspiring key message through storytelling.”
