LONDON: Since launching last year, the Peppa Pig consumer program in Mexico has expanded to include 50 licensees across 16 categories, according to new figures released by Entertainment One (eOne).

Televisa Consumer Products manages the program in Mexico. eOne reports that more than half a million Peppa toys were sold within the first four months of launching, while a Bandai toy range has grown from 12 SKUs at launch in September 2014 to a projected 36 SKUs by spring 2016. Additionally, Random House has sold more than 100,000 Peppa Pig books, Panini has sold over 900,000 sticker packs since September 2014, Famosa has sold over 150,000 plush to date and Photopack has sold over 90,000 backpacks since launch.

Meanwhile, the Peppa Pig live stage show produced by Fiery Light and Tycoon has been seen by more than 100,000 people across 30 cities in Mexico, with a new stage show planned for 2016.

“A groundswell of popularity for Peppa Pig has clearly been building since episodes debuted in Mexico just over a year ago,” said Ami Dieckman, the head of international licensing at Entertainment One. “We are very excited that the brand has taken off so quickly and our priority now will be to build on this initial success with strategic partnerships to ensure future growth.”
