TOKYO/LAS VEGAS: Bandai Namco Entertainment and Internet of Things startup and active gamification platform Moff have partnered for the U.S. launch of a gamified fitness app that incorporates the PAC-MAN franchise.

The app, called PAC-MAN Powered by Moff, is being presented for the first time at this year’s International CES in Las Vegas, which kicks off today. The deal marks Bandai Namco’s first collaboration with Moff, the creator of the Moff Band, a colorful wristband that uses the company’s cloud-based wearable technology to recognize and analyze users’ real-time motion. Using the Moff Band, the app allows kids to control PAC-MAN’s movements onscreen through their own arm motions, with the goal of encouraging families to be active and keep moving. Following the launch of the app in the U.S. market this spring, the companies will look into rolling out the service to fitness business operators.

The companies will continue to work together to explore new business opportunities outside of the gaming space. Bandai Namco Entertainment invested in Moff in September 2015.
