Original Balamory Cast Returning for Revival

Various members of the original cast of Balamory are set to reprise their roles in the revival coming next year to CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.

Julie Wilson Nimmo, Andrew Agnew, Kim Tserkezie and Juliet Cadzow will return as their original characters in the fictional town of Balamory, where life revolves around the nursery school.

New characters will be played by Danielle Jam, Carl Spencer and William Andrews.

Originally produced from 2002 to 2005, Balamory will be returning more than two decades later with reimagined stories for today’s families. Filming will take place in studio in Glasgow and on location in Tobermory, the real Isle of Mull town that inspired the fictional town.

The revival has been commissioned for two new seasons of ten episodes each. It is being produced by Lion Television Scotland, an All3Media company.

“It’s wonderful to see some of the original cast returning alongside new faces, creating a perfect mix of nostalgia and discovery for families to enjoy together,” said Kate Morton, head of commissioning for 0 to 6 at BBC Children’s and Education. “This vibrant new series will delight both children and the grown-ups who remember it fondly.”
