Nick Snaps Up New Comedy ToonMarty

BARCELONA/MONTREAL: Nickelodeon has acquired the brand-new animated comedy series ToonMarty for its channels and digital platforms internationally (excluding North America, China and Japan).

The 40×11-minute series is set in Toonville, where Marty is the only employee at Toonmart, the main hangout for all the cartoons. Marty likes to stick his nose in everybody’s business. He also includes everyone in his Marty-Party adventures. ToonMarty was originally commissioned by Corus Entertainment for its French and English TELETOON networks and will premiere on both in Canada this May.

ToonMarty is produced by Montreal’s Sardine Productions. Nickelodeon acquired the series from GoldBee. The property is supported by The Bell Fund, The Canada Media Fund and The Shaw Rocket Fund.

Christophe Goldberger, GoldBee’s managing director, said, “We are thrilled to see ToonMarty launch on an international platform. Nickelodeon is a great home for this groundbreaking comedy, as it combines hilarious slapstick elements and witty dialogues, and therefore reaches a wide audience. ToonMarty’s humor has a contemporary spirit for a freewheeling and irreverent good time!”

Ghislain Cyr, the president at Sardine Productions, commented, “We are privileged to have such great partners as Corus Entertainment and Nickelodeon on board for this series. And the studio is thrilled to introduce ToonMarty to the world; it’s a special moment for us.”
