Nick Preps School of Rock Series Debut

SANTA MONICA: Nickelodeon is premiering a new live-action comedy series titled School of Rock, based on the 2003 feature film of the same name.

The series, which is produced with Paramount Television, will debut on Saturday, March 12, at 9:30 p.m. and will air regularly on Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. School of Rock follows a group of overachieving prep school students who form a rock band with the encouragement of their unconventional substitute teacher. Kids will be able to access additional School of Rock-related content, including games and other activities, on Nickelodeon’s website.

School of Rock stars Lance Lim, Aidan Miner, Ricardo Hurtado, Jade Pettyjohn, Breanna Yde and Tony Cavalero. It will feature guest appearances from music stars such as Pete Wentz of the band Fall Out Boy, Kendall Schmidt (Big Time Rush) and Kira Kosarin (The Thundermans).

The show is developed by Jim and Steve Armogida (Crash & Bernstein, Grounded for Life), who also serve as executive producers with Jay Kogen (The Simpsons, Henry Danger). Richard Linklater, who directed the film, and Scott Rudin, who produced the movie, serve as executive producers on the series along with Eli Bush (The Newsroom, Ex Machina).
