New Majority Owner for APC Kids

APC Studios has sold its majority stake in APC Kids to French media group Madgic as it shifts its focus to its international scripted business.

Madgic, headed by Jean-Michel Spiner, will hold the majority stake in the distribution outfit headed by Lionel Marty, who will continue to own the balance of the company’s shares and remain as CEO. David Sauerwein remains at APC Kids’ production outfit, Zephyr Animation.

Emmanuelle Guilbart and Laurent Boissel, joint CEOs and founders of APC Studios, said, “The past ten years of working with Lionel and David to build APC Kids and then Zephyr has been a fun and exciting journey, but as the television landscape continues to evolve, we have decided that now if the right time for us to focus on our core business of making and selling international scripted content. It is testament to the success of APC Kids and Zephyr that a company of the calibre of kids’ content expert Madgic is now taking over from us just as APC Kids is set to start of new chapter of its development.”

Marty added: “I have loved working with Laurent and Emmanuelle on the growth of APC Kids since its inception and am proud of the business we have grown into, but we are excited for the next chapter. Aligning with a group that already owns and operates successful studios in the kids and animation space is an exciting prospect and we look forward to working with Jean-Michel Spiner, Thibaut Chatel, Guillaume Galliot and team.”

Madgic was formed in 2022 from the merger of 2 Minutes and Label Anim. Spiner commented, “We are delighted with our acquisition of APC Kids as the group will now benefit from the undeniable skills and creativity of Lionel and David. Being part of our existing infrastructure will give them access to additional technical and financial expertise in this sector.”
