Madgic Distribution Sends High Hoops to France

CANAL+ has acquired seasons one and two of the live-action series High Hoops from Madgic Distribution.

“High school comedy continues to have broad appeal internationally, and High Hoops hits the mark with its storylines, characters and humor,” said Lionel Marty, managing director of Madgic Distribution. “We are delighted that children in France will be able to tune into this great series from Can Can Productions that highlights girls’ sport.”

High Hoops centers on Aoife O’Neill, a gangly girl who moves schools and wants to hang out with the popular crowd. Joining the school’s basketball team, which is at the bottom of the league and the school pecking order, is not in her game plan, but she can’t resist the challenge.

The series is produced by Can Can Productions for CBBC in the U.K. It is created by Sinéad Fagan and directed by Ian Curtis. Dominique Molloy produces, and Rebecca Papworth executive produces.

Season one is set to launch in Germany on ARD/KiKA soon. TVO in Canada and ABC in Australia have already launched the show.
