New Barbie Musical Event from Mattel Television

Mattel Television has revealed Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams, premiering in September on Netflix in the U.S. and a slew of other platform partners across the globe.

The new musical adventure follows Barbie Roberts as she heads to New York City’s Times Square. She’s enrolled in a prestigious and highly competitive summer program at the Handler School for Performing Arts and, upon arrival, meets a fellow student, also named Barbie Roberts.

Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams follows the success of this spring’s Barbie & Chelsea The Lost Birthday and last year’s musical Barbie Princess Adventure.

To complement the new musical event, Mattel will introduce a line of dolls, playsets and accessories, also launching this fall.

Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams is directed by Scott Pleydell-Pearce (Bob the Builder, Blaze and the Monster Machines) and written by Christopher Keenan (senior VP of creative at Mattel Television), along with Kate Splaine. Keenan is also the executive producer on the film, along with Fred Soulie (senior VP and general manager of Mattel Television) and Adam Bonnett (executive producer of Mattel Television).

Barbie: Big City, Big Dreams was produced by Ron Myrick (Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?, Loonatics Unleashed), with animation services provided by Mainframe Studios.
