Netflix Reveals Animated Adventure Maya and the Three

Netflix has added to its slate Maya and the Three (Maya y los tres), an animated adventure series created by Jorge R. Gutiérrez.

Set in a fictional fantasy world, the nine-episode series is an adventure full of humor and heart, inspired by a mix of Aztec, Mayan and Inca mythologies, as well as contemporary Caribbean culture.

The voice cast in Spanish for Latin America includes Sandra Echeverría as Princess Maya (original voice in English by Zoe Saldaña), Mauricio Pérez as Picchu, Javier Rodríguez as Rico, Bárbara Bustamante as Chimi, Diego Luna as Zatz (voice in English and Spanish), Gael García Bernal as the three jaguars (voice in English and Spanish), Joaquín Cosío as God Mictlán, Kate del Castillo as Goddess Micte (voice in English and Spanish), Miguel Ángel Ghigliazza as God Cabrakán, José Luis Orozco as the Gods Hura and Can, Irene Guiser as the Goddess Cipactli, Laura Torres as Great Witch, Gerardo Vásquez as Great Witch, Jorge R. In a fantasy world transformed by magic, and where four kingdoms rule the earth, Maya, a brave and rebellious warrior princess, is about to celebrate her 15th birthday and her coronation. But everything changes when the gods of the underworld announce that Maya’s life must be sacrificed to the God of War, a price she must pay for her family’s secret past.

If Maya refuses, the entire world will suffer the vengeance of the gods. To save her beloved family and friends, and her own life, Maya embarks on an adventure to fulfill the prophecy of the arrival of three great warriors who will help her defeat the gods and save humanity.
