Nancy Kanter Takes On Expanded Position at Disney

BURBANK: Nancy Kanter has been elevated to executive VP of content and creative strategy for Disney Channels Worldwide, while also remaining general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide.

Kanter will continue to work under Gary Marsh, the president and chief creative officer of Disney Channels Worldwide. She now has oversight of content creation strategy that guides the development of original live-action and animated programming for kids between the ages of 6 and 14 on Disney Channel and Disney XD, as well as all creative content for 2- to 7-year-olds on Disney Junior. She will also manage the strategy for acquired content and help attract, develop and retain creative talent for Disney’s entertainment platforms.

Kanter has been serving as executive VP of original programming and general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide since 2013. In 2011 and 2012, she led the launch of Disney Junior and subsequently contributed to the channel’s global success across various lines of business. Kanter was first hired by Disney Channel in 2001. Before that, she was president of Bluecow.com, a website for children’s entertainment. Earlier in her career, she served as an executive producer for Sesame Workshop (formerly Children’s Television Workshop).
