LONDON: U.K.-based CAKE, French CGI studio TeamTO and Belgium’s Thuristar are rolling out the animated series My Knight and Me at MIPTV in April.

My Knight and Me is a medieval comedy for kids 6 to 11 that follows the funny adventures of street-smart Jimmy the Squire, his best friend Cat the Princess and his father Henri of Orange, an inept but chivalrous knight. The 52×11-minute series is a spin-off of Thuristar’s short film 850 Meters by Joeri Christiaen, who is directing the series.

The series is the fifth production in CAKE and TeamTO’s partnership, a creative relationship that has spanned nearly a decade and includes hits such as the Emmy-nominated Angelo Rules. CANAL+ Family and Télétoon+ in France, Super RTL in Germany, and VRT-Ketnet and RTBF-Ouftivi in Belgium have already signed on to broadcast the show, which is slated to debut on CANAL+ Family, RTBF-Ouftivi and Super RTL later this year. CAKE handles international distribution.

Ed Galton, the managing director and CCO at CAKE, said, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with TeamTO on My Knight and Me and are very excited to be introducing what promises to be a fun show with a striking style. With stories of knights, bad dragons, evil witches and emancipated princesses, there is a lot to love and laugh about.”

TeamTO’s executive producer and founder Corinne Kouper commented, “Joeri has created a totally original universe which reimagines the world of fairy tales, allowing for a fun new take on traditional girls’ and boys’ stereotypes.”

Perrine Gauthier, producer and partner at Thuristar, added, “My Knight and Me is Thuristar’s first homegrown TV show and we’re thrilled to introduce it with partners who share the same drive for quality as we do. We cannot wait for audiences to discover this fun and lovable trio, unique visuals and catchy soundtrack.”
