Moonbug Adds More Digital Properties to Roster

Moonbug has acquired My Magic Pet Morphle and Toddler Fun Learning, including Gecko’s Garage, which has been viewed for more than 1 billion minutes.

My Magic Pet Morphle is a 2D animation series that follows Mila and her magic pet, Morphle, as they embark on adventures to spread compassion. The show, available in five languages, has a following of 5 million subscribers and has received more than 3.7 billion views.

In addition to Gecko’s Garage, the Toddler Fun Learning deal brings to Moonbug Dr. Poppy’s Pet Rescue. Moonbug’s roster of content already includes the preschool hit Little Baby Bum, which the company acquired last year.

My Magic Pet Morphle is an incredibly popular pre-school show with devoted fans and millions of subscribers—we carefully selected the beloved brand by analyzing proprietary data that detailed the show’s potential for growth,” said Alfie Chubb, head of mergers and acquisitions of Moonbug. “With these acquisitions, we will continue to drive rapid growth and further diversify Moonbug’s kids’ slate of content.”

“Both My Magic Pet Morphle and Gecko’s Garage are kids’ shows adored the world over,” said René Rechtman, co-founder and CEO of Moonbug. “Both shows are extraordinarily produced and have demonstrated high viewership and engagement from their dedicated following. We have the potential to grow these high-opportunity kids’ properties into global entertainment brands—and we look forward to doing just that.”

“We are very much aligned with Moonbug in our aim to help children develop creativity, empathy, and resilience, through storytelling and imagination,” said Arthur van Merwijk, creator of My Magic Pet Morphle. “From the moment we started My Magic Pet Morphle just three years ago, we saw each of our now 5 million subscribers not as numbers in our analytics but as our main characters Mila’s and Morphle’s play-friends. With the Moonbug team’s wealth of expertise in digital media and entertainment, we’re looking forward to seeing the brand scale as we continue producing high-quality animation that kids love.”
