China’s iQIYI has unveiled the QIYI Guo Kids Edition, a video streaming app for smart TVs designed for children up to the age of 12.

The QIYI Guo platform will feature animated shows such as PAW Patrol, Peppa Pig and Les Barbapapa. Users have access to more than 1,000 episodes of original English-language programming, including content from Disney, BBC, Nickelodeon and Sesame Street.

The app, developed in collaboration with Galaxy Internet TV, utilizes artificial intelligence to provide tailored recommendations for its young users while giving parents the ability to closely monitor and adjust content and time-control settings. QIYI Guo also provides paid premium children’s content, delivering age-appropriate and educational programs. Paid members of the app can access a content library of more than 80,000 hours of high-quality video, including 50,000 episodes of premium shows. Members can also watch in 4K Ultra HD.

iQIYI has also entered into a cooperation with smart projector manufacturer XGIMI. Under the agreement, users will be able to enjoy high-quality video content provided by QIYI Guo Kids Edition on all XGIMI devices.

“With the launch of QIYI Guo Kids Edition, iQIYI has become the first video platform to provide premium paid content for children in China,” said Duan Youqiao, senior VP of iQIYI. “This represents an important step forward for us as we explore opportunities in the paid-for children’s content market.”
