Inspector Gadget Heads to China

WildBrain has inked a deal with CCTV 6 to bring season one of the CG Inspector Gadget series to Chinese audiences.

Inspector Gadget launched on the Chinese national broadcaster on July 20, and new episodes are airing every Saturday. The CG series follows as the titular detective is brought out of retirement when Dr. Claw reactivates his global crime syndicate.

“Inspector Gadget continues to be an iconic brand that families worldwide return to time and time again,” said Kate Smith, executive VP of audience engagement at WildBrain. “This launch on CCTV 6 embraces a growing appetite in China for well-known IP with a built-in audience through a new generation of parents and kids. We’re confident that audiences in China will embrace this beloved series.”

WildBrain also inked various sales for other titles in the Inspector Gadget franchise. In Europe, Blue Entertainment picked up Inspector Gadget’s Biggest Caper Ever and Inspector Gadget’s Last Case for its SVOD service blue Play in Switzerland and Lichtenstein. TG4 in Ireland licensed season one of the CG Inspector Gadget, which will also be broadcast in the Irish language on TG4 and Cúla 4. In Germany, LG acquired season one of Inspector Gadget’s Field Trip, seasons one and two of the classic Inspector Gadget, Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas and Inspector Gadget’s Last Case.

In the U.S., MeTV Toons took seasons one and two of the classic Inspector Gadget series, as well as Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas. Also, the first season of the CG Inspector Gadget series was picked up by Canela.TV for the U.S. and Latin America; Kanopy Kids in the U.S., Canada and Singapore; VSTV in Vietnam for its K+KIDS channel; and Kartoon Channel! in the U.S., Sub-Saharan Africa, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and Vietnam.
