LONDON: FremantleMedia Kids & Family has signed its first format agreement for Marrying Mum and Dad, which will be produced by FM Sweden for SVT’s Barnkanalen.

Marrying Mum and Dad is a factual-entertainment format for viewers between the ages of 6 and 11 that sees parents give their children total control of their wedding day. The show is now airing in its sixth season on CBBC in the U.K. The 10×29-minute Swedish version marks the first kids’ format ever commissioned by Barnkanalen, where it will debut in late 2017.

Rick Glankler, the president of FremantleMedia Kids & Family, said: “We’re delighted to have secured our very first format deal with SVT. As a worldwide leader in family entertainment with access to standout content from great producers, like the BBC, we are in a unique position to collaborate with the numerous international Fremantle family production hubs to place innovative and fun shows like Marrying Mum and Dad around the world.”

Magnus Karlsson Lamm, the managing director of FremantleMedia Sweden, noted: “We are very happy to produce our first show for SVT’s kids’ channel, and even more excited that it is such a great format as Marrying Mum and Dad. I really love this program and believe it has great potential to become a returning series in Sweden as it is in the U.K.”

Petter Bragee, the head of children’s and entertainment programming for SVT Malmö, added: “SVT’s Barnkanalen is by far the most popular TV and online destination for Swedish children. Marrying Mum and Dad is a truly feel-good creative format which will help us grow a broader family audience share. We are looking forward to starting production with our partner Fremantle Sweden in the spring prior to its autumn debut.”
