HBO Max and Cartoon Network have greenlit Scooby-Doo! and the Mystery Pups, the first-ever Scooby-Doo preschool series, for Cartoonito.

The new series will see Scooby and Shaggy as camp counselors who lead three young pups on adventures to solve mysteries that are more silly than spooky. Scooby-Doo veterans Frank Welker and Matthew Lillard will return to play Scooby and Shaggy, respectively.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Scooby-Doo! and the Mystery Pups is slated to join the Cartoonito preschool block on HBO Max and Cartoon Network in 2024.

Showrunner Mark Palmer (Hello Ninja, Treehouse Detectives) serves as co-executive producer, with Erik Knutsen as supervising producer. Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios, serves as executive producer.

“This show combines everything we love about Scooby—his humor, his loyal friendship with Shaggy, his mystery-loving spirit—all in an innovative and accessible format for preschoolers,” said Amy Friedman, head of kids and family programming, Warner Bros. “Cartoonito parents and caregivers will get to introduce kids to their beloved childhood hero in a totally new way.”

Register added, “We are thrilled to finally give preschoolers a version of Scooby to call their own. With plenty of laughs, fun and clues to chase, this show promises to entertain the youngest of mystery solvers.”
