Media I.M. has appointed Evolution to manage the licensing, merchandising and promotion rights for the non-dialogue animated comedy series Sunny Bunnies in North America.

Evolution will expand the brand into the apparel, accessories, publishing, toys, plush, home, stationery, food, and health and beauty categories. The company will also oversee promotions and marketing partnerships in the region. Aimed at youngsters between the ages of 3 and 6, Sunny Bunnies follows the adventures of five beaming balls that can appear anywhere there is a source of light. The 52-episode show was licensed by Disney Junior and Disney Channel in the U.S., among other global broadcasters, and has also been a hit on YouTube.

“We are very excited to be working with such an experienced group of executives at Media I.M. and the talented animation team at Digital Light Studios on this fun and engaging series,” said Travis Rutherford, the president of licensing and retail at Evolution. “We expect a significant consumer-products program to be deployed in the North American market beginning with core categories available at select retailers in spring 2018. Our carefully constructed brand expansion strategy will build Sunny Bunnies into one of the premier children’s TV franchises.”

Maria Ufland, co-founder and joint managing director of Media I.M., added: “The global response to date from broadcasters, licensees and now retailers for Sunny Bunnies has been unprecedented. The new deal with Evolution is the catalyst we needed to expand this innovative show into the North American retail market and we look forward to launching new licensed products across many classifications. With the support from the Disney Channels alongside Evolution’s brand development and licensing efforts, we think this is a significant opportunity for all parties involved in the brand.”
