Shook, a short-form series about modern hip-hop dance from executive producers Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass, is set to bow on Disney Channel’s YouTube next month.

Starring Sofia Wylie (Andi Mack, the upcoming High School Musical: The Musical: The Series), Shook centers on 15-year-old Mia (Wylie), who aspires to become a professional dancer but finds herself held back by her obligations to her little sister and their single working mom. It is slated to land on Disney Channel’s YouTube on September 28.

Shook, a production of the Duplass brothers’ DBP Donut, was written by Jonathan Hurwitz. Hannah Peterson is the director, with Alexis Beauregard serving as the choreographer on the series.

Vincent Aricco, VP of multiplatform content development for Disney Channels Worldwide, said: “Disney Channel’s YouTube channel already has 3 million subscribers and 1.4 billion views. Adding Shook as our foray into original scripted content is a great step in continuing to connect with our viewers on a platform they already use. Sofia’s extraordinary talents and already huge fan base enable us to reach and engage with our core kid and tween audience through visual storytelling for an increasingly digital audience.”

Mark Duplass, co-founder of DBP Donut, added: “It’s not every day that Disney asks you to partner on a diverse, fun, avant-garde dance series. Actually, this may never happen again, so we’re enjoying it while it lasts.”
