Disney XD Orders Pair of Animated Originals

BURBANK: Disney XD has greenlit two new original animated series, Billy Dilley’s Super-Duper Subterranean Summer and Country Club, from Disney Television Animation.

Billy Dilley’s Super-Duper Subterranean Summer is a comedy about a science-obsessed seventh grader who gets stuck in a magic world beneath the Earth’s surface with his lab partners. The voice cast includes Jessica McKenna (Comedy Bang! Bang!), Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants) and YouTube star Catie Wayne (Animalist). The show is slated to launch next year. It comes from director Aaron Springer (Mickey Mouse, SpongeBob SquarePants), who also serves as executive producer.

Country Club is a comedy adventure series about a mischievous country boy who moves to the big city with his family. Director Rob Renzetti (Gravity Falls) will executive produce alongside creators and co-executive producers Chris and Shane Houghton (Harvey Beaks). The show is due to debut in 2018.

Marc Buhaj, the senior VP of programming and general manager of Disney XD, said: “Animation is strongly resonating with the Disney XD audience, and we are dedicated to expanding our roster of world-class creators, including Aaron, Chris and Shane. Our audience will be treated to engaging, original comedic storytelling through the unique visions of each of our creators.”

Disney XD has also ordered a third season of Daron Nefcy’s Star vs. The Forces of Evil and a second season of Two More Eggs, a short-form comedy series from The Brothers Chap (Mike and Matt Chapman).
