Production has kicked off on Fast Layne, a live-action limited series created by Travis Braun (Vampirina) that is due to debut on Disney Channel this year.

Fast Layne centers on a 12-year-old over-achiever who discovers a talking car in an abandoned shed. The show stars Sophie Pollono (The Young and the Restless) and Sofia Rosinsky (The Other Side of the Door), among others. It is executive produced by Matt Dearborn and Tom Burkhard (Even Stevens).

Fast Layne is being made by Omnifilm Entertainment’s Lakeshore Productions.

Adam Bonnett, the executive VP of original programming for Disney Channels Worldwide, commented: “We’re thrilled to be working with Matt, Tom and Travis on this exciting, action-packed journey that showcases two unlikely friends in the driver’s seat of a sentient, self-driving car. This limited series allows our audience to go an adventure with these kids with nonstop action, comedy and mystery in a unique genre they haven’t experienced before on Disney Channel.”
