Disney Channels EMEA has revealed three new commissions, including a new animated series inspired by the book-based classic Disney film One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961).

Penned by Maria O’Loughlin and directed by Miklos Weigert, 101 Dalmatian Street is set in 21st century London and follows the adventures of 101 dogs whose names all begin with the letter “D.” The show is based on a pitch by Anttu Harlin and Joonas Utti from Gigglebug Entertainment, and is developed by Disney’s original animation team in London with Passion Animation Studios. It has been ordered for 48 11-minute episodes and two 22-minute specials, and will begin rolling out around the world in fall 2018.

Orion Ross, VP and head of animation, digital and acquisitions, said: “We’re incredibly excited about this fresh new take on a beloved Disney classic. There’s a big old-fashioned house at number 101 Dalmatian Street where a huge family of 101 dogs live all by themselves, without a human owner, setting up the biggest, messiest and furriest family comedy you could ever imagine.”

Disney Channels EMEA also unveiled details for Gigantosaurus, based on the book by Johnny Duddle and produced by Cyber Group Studios. The show, which is directed by Olivier Lelardoux, centers on four young dinosaurs in a prehistoric world. It is slated to premiere on Disney Junior worldwide in 2019.

Also announced is a new animated comedy for Disney XD, Space Chickens in Space, which is designed and directed by Tommy and Markus Vad Flaaten. The story is about three chickens who are mistakenly enrolled in an elite intergalactic military academy. The series was created by José C. García de Letona and Rita Street. Disney XD EMEA acquired 52 11-minute episodes, including 11 2-minute shorts. The show is an Anima Estudios/CAKE/Studio Moshi and Gingerbread co-production that is due to debut next year.

In addition, PJ Masks and Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir have been recommissioned. The former will return for a sophomore season in 2018, while the latter has been ordered for second and third installments.
