Disney Channel Slates Wizards of Waverly Place Continuation

Disney Channel has slated the premiere of Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, a continuation of Wizards of Waverly Place, for October 29.

Executive produced by Selena Gomez and David Henrie, the new series follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family but must use his magical skills again to mentor a wizard-in-training. Several episodes in the first season are directed by Raven-Symoné (Raven’s Home) and Danielle Fishel (Girl Meets World).

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place stars Henrie, Janice LeAnn Brown, Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora and Mimi Gianopulos. Gomez guest stars in the first episode.

The new series is written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who executive produce alongside Gary Marsh, Jonas Agin, Gomez, Henrie and Andy Fickman. Fickman also directed the pilot and multiple other episodes.

Following its two-episode debut on October 29 on Disney Channel, two more episodes will debut on October 30. Beginning November 8, episode premieres will move to Fridays, with two episodes weekly.

The first eight episodes will become available on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand on October 30.
