Dandelooo’s new 78×7-minute preschool show Billy The Cowboy Hamster, based on the book series, is in development with France TV.

The show is inspired by the series of six books by Dutch author and illustrator Catharina Valckx, published by l’école des loisirs. The book series has sold over a million copies in France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, China and Japan, among other markets. The TV series for the 4-to-7 set will be produced at Dandelooo’s animation studio Ooolala in France and directed by Swiss illustrator Antoine Rota, with delivery expected in 2021.

Jean Baptiste Wéry and Emmanuèle Petry, Dandelooo’s founders, noted, “We have found this wonderful unique character in our own greenhouse series The Treehouse Stories and are eager to bring him alive on screen, along with his best friends Little Rain the stone marten and Jean-Claude the worm. This special series filled with affection, kindness and tenderness will immerse kids with its fun, quirky and absurd humor.”
