Cinekid Reveals Nominees for Best New Media Production

AMSTERDAM: Cinekid has unveiled the 12 Cinekid Lion nominations for best new media production of 2016, with entries from more than 70 companies and producers around the globe.

The nominees are The Everything Machine (Tinybop, U.S.), Dash & Dot Robots (Make Wonder, Tools for Talents, U.S.), LEGO Dimensions (Warner Bros., Netherlands), Lines (Gamious, Netherlands), Love You to Bits (Alike Studio, Spain), Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime (Asteroid Base, Canada), Orchids to Dusk (Pol Clarissou, France), Prune (Joel McDonald, U.S.), Tearaway Unfolded (Media Molecule, U.K.), Toca Dance (Toca Bocan, Sweden), Verhalentafel Openluchtmuseum (Studio Kloek, Nederlands Openluchtmuseum, Netherlands) and Waterliniemuseum: Sterk Water (IJsfontein, Platvorm en Duinzand, Waterliniemuseum, Netherlands).

Entries range from games for consoles and mobile platforms to online games, interactive installations, websites and applications from both commercial and independent producers. The jury, which consists of professionals Astrid Poot, Anton Damen, Karel Millenaar, Matthijs Dierckx and Douwe-Sjoerd Boschman, evaluates each entry’s artwork, interactive design, usability, sound design and story line, among other things. All of the nominated productions will be on display in the MediaLab during the Cinekid Festival from October 15 to 21. The jury will select one winner to receive a cash prize of 7,500 euros ($8,244).
