MONTREAL: Several showrunners, including Scott Fellows (Big Time Rush, Johnny Test), are set to take part in two sessions at the Children, Youth & Media (CYM) Conference, to be held at the St. Andrew’s Club and Conference Centre in Toronto on November 18.

Portfolio Entertainment’s Dave Beatty will engage showrunners in a conversation about what they do in the Showrunners in Animation session. Participants include Fellows, Lienne Sawatsky and Dan Williams (Detentionaire, Rated A for Awesome, Franklin, Caillou), and Simon Racioppa and Richard Elliott (Fangbone, George of the Jungle). During the session titled A Conversation with Dan Signer, the Canadian TV producer and writer will share his experience with multi-camera sitcoms. Signer is the creator and executive producer of three live-action series for kids, A.N.T. Farm (Disney Channel), Mr. Young (YTV/Disney XD) and most recently Some Assembly Required (YTV/Netflix). Signer will be joined by Some Assembly Required producer Alexandra Raffé during the session, which will be moderated by Jamie Piekarz, the director of content for YTV, Treehouse and Nickelodeon Canada at Corus Entertainment.

The CYM Conference, which will take place November 18-20, is made possible through contributions from CBC/Radio-Canada, the Canada Media Fund, the Independent Production Fund, the Shaw Rocket Fund, TVO, Guru, 9 Story Media Group, the Bell Fund, Portfolio Entertainment, Sinking Ship Entertainment and Frima.
