Cartoon Network LatAm & Ánima Estudios Unveil Contest Winners

ATLANTA: Cartoon Network Latin America and Ánima Estudios have revealed the winners of an animation contest held in June, with The Seventh Knight receiving the first-place prize for animated short film.

The Seventh Knight comes from Andrés Eduardo Luna Rivera and Sebastián Felipe Luna Rivera of Colombia. The second-place winner was Alimentura from Michael Abarca and José Moreno of Venezuela. The first-place winner in the animated series category was WTQ: What the quest is this? by Ernesto Molina of Mexico, while second place went to Frida Mortem from Osmaylin Evelyn and Archila León of Venezuela.

First-place winners receive a cash prize, have their projects produced by Ánima Estudios and also have them featured on Cartoon Network Latin America’s platforms. There were approximately 200 entries from countries such as Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala. Projects presented targeted kids aged 6 to 11.

“We are very happy with the response we got to this contest,” commented Hernan La Greca, the senior creative director of original production for Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Tooncast Latin America. “We are thrilled to support animation in Latin America through initiatives that promote the development of new talent and provide exposure to new ideas and productions.”

García Letona, the COO at Ánima Estudios. “We are excited to confirm that there’s a huge amount of talent in Latin America committed to creating animated content.”
