Cartoon Network, HBO Max Slate Iyanu Movie Premiere

Cartoon Network and HBO Max have slated the premiere of Lion Forge Entertainment’s Iyanu: The Age of Wonders, the first feature film for Iyanu, for August 30.

Set 500 years before the rise of Iyanu, the movie takes place at the height of Yorubaland’s magical civilization. When Meje, the embodiment of the seven deadly sins, emerges, young warriors Dara and Ishe must work to stop the coming Age of Darkness.

The film stars an all-African voice cast, including Shaffy Bello, Babajide Oyekunle, Ike Ononye, Sisan Victor-Woko, Serah Johnson, Okey Jude, Samuel Kugbiyi and Adesua Etomi-Wellington. It was co-written by Brandon Easton, series story editor, and Roye Okupe, who also directed and serves as the franchise’s creator and showrunner.

Season two of the Iyanu series is set to come in 2026, with Iyanu facing a new enemy as ancient magic reawakens and the fight for balance continues.
