CAKE is set to bring its Angry Birds series, with brand-new character designs, to Annecy next week.

Angry Birds, developed in partnership with Rovio Entertainment and Toronto-based Yowza! Animation, marks the franchise’s entrance into long-form series content. The birds’ new look sees Red, Chuck and Bomb as tween birds, and they’re joined by new feathered friends, the trouble-making Piggies. The series follows them as they escape the confines of school life together with explosive antics and pranks.

The long-term partnership between CAKE and Rovio also includes international distribution rights to Rovio’s existing library of non-dialogue shorts, as well as the creation of original digital content and management of the Angry Birds YouTube channel through CAKE’s digital arm, Popcorn Digital.

Tom van Waveren, CEO and creative director at CAKE, said: “We have had a lot of fun putting this project together. We are immensely proud of the outcome and are looking forward to sharing with the industry and with our partners who have already indicated strong interest in the series.”
