Blake Tohana Among New 9 Story Appointments

TORONTO: 9 Story Media Group has hired Blake Tohana, a former Tricon Films & Television executive, as the company’s chief financial officer, while Brown Bag Films CEO Cathal Gaffney becomes 9 Story’s COO.

In his new role, Tohana will work under Vince Commisso, 9 Story’s president and CEO. He will lead the company’s overall financial reporting, corporate development and risk management. Tohana most recently served as CFO of Tricon Films & Television. Earlier in his career, he was the executive VP and CFO of Magna Entertainment Corp.

“I am thrilled to welcome Blake to the 9 Story team,” said Commisso. “His appointment fortifies our recent expansion and helps pave the way for future growth. Blake’s experience leading media and entertainment companies both large and small will be invaluable for our plans going forward.”

9 Story has also made other changes to its management team following the acquisition of Brown Bag Films. Steve Jarosz becomes executive VP, charged with production financing and compliance. Gaffney continues as head of Brown Bag Films and was appointed COO for 9 Story Media Group, responsible for production, technology and HR. Natalie Osborne becomes chief strategy officer, overseeing distribution, consumer products, acquisitions, marketing and business development, while Natalie Dumoulin, VP of creative affairs, will manage a unified development team.
