MUNICH: BanBao has inked a multiyear global licensing deal with Peanuts Worldwide for the classic brand created by Charles M. Schulz.

Under the agreement, BanBao will produce Peanuts-themed building block play sets. The initial line of building blocks is expected to be available through retailers in the first quarter of 2017. BanBao will introduce the new Peanuts line at toy fairs such as the Hong Kong Toys & Games Fair, the Nuremberg International Toy Fair and the New York Toy Fair.

Charles M. Schulz launched the Peanuts comic strip in 1950. The Peanuts brand is currently licensed in more than 40 countries and generates annual sales in excess of $2 billion. Consumer products from 1,000-plus licensees are available around the world.

“This is a unique collaboration for BanBao,” said Steven van Bommel, BanBao’s CEO. “We have been working on this global licensing deal for a long time. We had our first collaboration early this year with BMW and we wanted to add a great global toy license to that. Peanuts was our favorite, so we are very excited we have been able to acquire it. We are thrilled to start working on building block toy sets featuring Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang. It is a remarkably iconic brand and kids will love to be able to play with the Peanuts Gang and build their world.”

Team! Licensing represents the brand in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Benelux countries.
