Balamory Revived for CBeebies

CBeebies has commissioned two ten-episode seasons of a Balamory reboot.

Like the original, which ran from 2002 to 2005, the new series will take place in a nursery school in the fictional Scottish island town of Balamory. The reboot will debut in 2026.

Filming will once again take place in Scotland, whether in the original location, Tobermory, or other Scottish locations such as Rothesay.

BBC Children’s and Education is interested in ideas from producers, where some of the original characters will be included in the series alongside a host of new characters.

“A whole new generation will discover and enjoy Balamory as we bring families together with this new update for CBeebies,” said Kate Morton, head of commissioning for 0 to 6 at BBC Children’s and Education. “It will be a real treat for parents who grew up with the show to now introduce their little ones to the brightly colored world, getting to know a host of old and new characters together.”
