BAFTA Reveals Nominations for Children & Young People Awards

BAFTA has unveiled the nominations for this year’s BAFTA Children & Young People Awards, which are returning for the first time in three years.

In animation, the nominees are Hilda (Hilda Productions, Netflix, Mercury Filmworks), Robin Robin (Aardman Animations, Netflix), The Snail and the Whale (Magic Light Pictures, BBC One) and The Tiger Who Came to Tea (Lupus Films, Channel 4).

The Content for Change category features Ada Twist, Scientist (Laughing Wild, Higher Ground Productions, Wonder Worldwide, Netflix), El Deafo (Lighthouse Studios, Apple TV+), Only a Child (Amka Films, YouTube) and Waffles + Mochi (Higher Ground Productions, Netflix).

For international, the nominees are Bluey (Ludo Studio, Disney Junior), City of Ghosts (Netflix), Kiri and Lou (Stretchy and Yowza Animation, CBeebies) and Maya and the Three (Netflix).

In scripted, the nominees are Dodger (Universal International Studios, CBBC), Jamie Johnson (Short Form Film, CBBC), My Mum Tracy Beaker (BBC Studios Kids & Family, CBBC) and Silverpoint (Zodiak Kids & Family Productions UK, CBBC).

The non-scripted programs nominated are Crackerjack! (BBC Studios Children’s & Family, CBBC), Deadly 60 (BBC Studios Natural History Unit, CBBC), FYI: Ukraine Invasion Special (Fresh Start Media, Sky Kids) and Gym Stars (Drummer TV, BBC/CBBC).

In the preschool arena, nominees on the animated side are Circle Square (Wyndley Animation, Kavaleer Productions, Channel 5), Hey Duggee (Studio Aka, CBeebies), Pip and Posy (Magic Light Pictures, Channel 5/Sky Kids) and The Very Small Creatures (Aardman, Sky Kids). On the live-action side, the nominees are Andy’s Aquatic Adventures (BBC Studios Natural History Unit, CBeebies), Grace’s Amazing Machines (BBC Studios Kids & Family, CBeebies), Lovely Little Farm (Darrall Macqueen, Apple TV+) and Something Special (BBC Studios Kids & Family, CBeebies).

The ceremony will take place at the Old Billingsgate in London on Sunday, November 27, hosted by TV and radio presenter Lindsey Russell.
