MADRID: Ánima Kitchent and Televisa
are teaming up to co-produce the animated series Cleo and Cuquín, bringing the Spanish children’s brand Telerín Family back to television 50 years after its premiere.

The agreement will see the production of 52 7-minute episodes of Cleo and Cuquín. In addition to bringing the 3D animated show to television, the companies are launching a transmedia content strategy and have rolled out ten music video clips, an app and other content for digital platforms. Created by Jose Luis Moro Escalona and produced by Estudios Moro, Telerín Family aired in the Spanish-speaking world in the late 1960s and the 1970s.

“We have a brand with over 50 years of life that remains a benchmark in the Spanish-speaking world,” said Victor M. Lopez, the CEO of Ánima Kitchent. “Now, with our eyes set on the international market, we are transforming it into an innovative transmedia content and want to show its potential as an entertainment brand. With Televisa we have found the best possible partner to accompany us on this exciting journey.”

Maca Rotter, the general director of Televisa Consumer Products, commented on the “great illusion that makes to the generations who grew up with the Telerin Family, to see it now crystallized into a new content for the international market, with those universal values that characterize the series and those endearing characters that saw us all grow throughout America and Spain. They will now have a content planned since its inception to travel to other territories, in all languages.”

In April, the Televisa Consumer Products division became the licensing agent for Telerín Family in Mexico. Deals have already been signed in the country with consumer brands such as Lala Milk, Atlas Mattresses and the toy factory Fotorama, which launched a Caritierna Telerín Cleo doll.
