KiKA Remains Leading Kids’ Brand in Germany

KiKA, the free-to-air service in Germany for children, managed by public broadcasters ARD and ZDF, remained the leading brand for children throughout 2025.

With a 15.8 percent market share among 3- to 13-year-olds, KiKA maintained its leading position in linear television for the seventh year in a row, according to the latest market research from GFK.

The service also saw significant growth in the digital space. KiKA’s digital platforms, which encompass various apps, such as the KiKA app, the KiKANiNCHEN app designed and made specifically for toddlers, the KiKA quiz app, KiKA’s web offering and HbbTV, in 2025 managed to reach seven out of ten children in Germany.

Sebastian Debertin, the head of international content, acquisitions and co-productions, commented, “I am really happy and proud of the teams at ZDF, at the nine affiliates of ARD, including MDR, the powerhouse behind KiKA, and, of course, the KiKA team in Erfurt, who all together made this possible with their joint work and efforts.”
