CAKE Introduces Groundhog Gary: Six More Weeks

CAKE is set to launch the family movie Groundhog Gary: Six More Weeks, written by Emmy winner Liz Hara (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur), to the international market.

The 80-minute film follows as an 11-year-old attempts to delay his family’s cabin trip by kidnapping the town’s groundhog and preventing the Groundhog Day festival from happening. The cast includes Evan Jackson (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place), Henry Wicher (LEGO Pixar BrickToons) and Aniya Simone (Sydney to the Max), as well as puppeteer Bradley Freeman Jr. (Sesame Street).

Groundhog Gary: Six More Weeks, produced by Fresh Films, is being distributed in the U.S. and Canada by Cookbook Media. CAKE is handling international distribution.

Groundhog Gary: Six More Weeks is a genuinely funny, warm family film with a big heart,” said Dominic Gardiner, managing director of distribution at CAKE. “Playful, relatable and easy to enjoy together, it offers exactly the kind of shared viewing experience and feel-good storytelling that audiences are looking for right now. We’re thrilled to be premiering it at Kidscreen Summit.”
