Boat Rocker Studios and CBC have partnered on the forthcoming CBC original preschool animations Dino Ranch and Remy & Boo.

Dino Ranch, created by Matt Fernandes of Industrial Brothers and produced by Industrial Brothers and Boat Rocker Studios in association with Disney, Radio-Canada and CBC Kids, follows the adventures of the Cassidy family as they tackle life in a fantastical “pre-westoric” setting in which dinosaurs still roam. Targeted at 2- to 5-year-olds, Dino Ranch is due to launch in the U.S. on Disney Junior in 2021.

Also created by Fernandes, Remy & Boo is produced by Industrial Brothers and Boat Rocker Studios in association with Universal Kids, CBC Kids and Radio-Canada. The preschool series tells of the friendship between adventurous 6-year-old girl Remy and a squishy pink robot called Boo. The series premiered on Universal Kids in the U.S. earlier this month.

The pair of titles were announced as part of CBC’s 2020-21 programming slate and are set to launch soon on CBC and CBC Gem, which offers more than 400 hours of ad-free programming for young audiences. CBC has also acquired Boat Rocker’s in-house title Love Monster and The Strange Chores, from Ludo Studio and Media World Pictures. The new deal follows CBC/Radio-Canada’s recent commission of the Industrial Brothers and Boat Rocker Studios animated series Kingdom Force, which launched on CBC and CBC Gem in December and will air in French on Radio-Canada beginning January 2021.

Jon Rutherford, managing director for kids and family and president of rights at Boat Rocker Studios, said: “We are excited to continue to grow our partnership with CBC across these stellar shows, hot off the heels of the launch of The Next Step season seven on CBC Gem. We are sure they will follow the success of TNS and become firm favorites with kids and families across Canada. These shows are key to our rapidly growing kids and family portfolio, which offers a wealth of compelling viewing for audiences globally.”

Marie McCann, senior director of children’s content at CBC Kids, said: “We think kids will be captivated with the jaw-dropping design and great storytelling coming from Matt Fernandes and the amazing creative teams at Industrial Brothers and Boat Rocker. Building on the success of last year’s Kingdom Force, this partnership will help us grow our library of best-in-class content for kids of all ages.”
