Disney Junior Adds New Seasons of Muppet Babies & More

Disney Junior has ordered additional seasons of the animated series Muppet Babies, Vampirina and Puppy Dog Pals, while production has begun on a new comedy for Disney Channel.

Muppet Babies, which premiered on Disney Junior in March, was picked up for a sophomore season. Vampirina and Puppy Dog Pals, meanwhile, are both back for season three.

The Vampirina character also debuted at Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim and at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom park at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Joe D’Ambrosia, the senior VP of original programming at Disney Junior, said, “We’re privileged to work with an amazing group of talented creators every day. Our Disney Junior production teams continue to deliver a diverse group of aspirational characters and entertaining, heartfelt stories to which our youngest viewers have developed a remarkable emotional connection. We look forward to more of their imaginative stories on-screen and to new opportunities for preschoolers and parents to extend that experience.”

In addition, production started on the multi-camera series Sydney to the Max, slated to debut on Disney Channel in early 2019. The intergenerational father/daughter comedy comes from Mark Reisman (Frasier, The Exes, Wings). The show follows the antics of middle schooler Sydney and her protective, doting father, Max. Sydney to the Max is produced by It’s A Laugh Productions.
