NEW YORK: 4K Media, the New York-based brand management and production subsidiary of Konami Digital Entertainment, has been appointed by Crown Creative as the master licensee for the girls’ fashion brand Rebecca Bonbon in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

As master licensee for the brand, 4K Media will launch a new licensing program covering product categories such as apparel, accessories, cosmetics, home décor, plush and pet products intended for young females. The company plans to release the new Rebecca Bonbon products at select retail outlets later this year.

Rebecca Bonbon is a French bulldog created by Yuko Shimizu, the original creator of Hello Kitty.

“Representing the licensing interest of Rebecca Bonbon is the ideal complement to 4K Media’s work with the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise,” said Jennifer Coleman, 4K Media’s VP of licensing and marketing. “She is an adorable, Paris-born fashionista French bulldog, now living in New York City. Every girl wants to live a lifestyle like hers! We are looking forward to launching female-focused product categories with high-end and boutique retailers that cater to a discerning and fashionable female consumer.”

“Just as Yuko has succeeded in localizing the Rebecca Bonbon brand in Asia, we needed a partner to oversee the international expansion of the brand,” said Satoko Sakakibara, Crown Creative’s senior manager of overseas marketing. “4K Media has proven its ability to localize brands, especially for the U.S. and European marketplace and we’re delighted to be collaborating with them on the globalization of Rebecca Bonbon.”
